I hate to say it but, the Model 63 has a little problem that everyone should be aware of. The 63 can fire with the breech bolt open. It won't fire with the breech all the way open, but it can fire with it open most of the way and at any point less than that.
This becomes a serious problem if a cartridge fails to chamber all the way. If the gun discharges with the breech open, a good deal of the explosion will exit out the ejection port. It's possible that the case will blow apart and some brass fragments might be shot out the side.
My 63 doesn't seem to like full sized solid points like the Federal Lightnings. It does fine on hollow points, but I'm going to be checking the bolt each and every time I pull the trigger.
I've posted this warning over at RFC and I've sent Taurus a letter, so I'm hoping Taurus will find a way to fix the problem.
