You are right Quester, but it also depends how you store your frame and barrels and if you are only taking one barrel to the range. I store my Contender pistol frames without barrels so that I can wipe the barrels down when I bring them home. This means that I either put the first barrel on it at home and take it back off at home or do it at the range. I have done it both ways and it is about as broad as it is long.
My Encore rifle setup only consists of 2 barrels, a 25-06 and a 209x50. I usually only take one of those barrels to the range at a time. In that case it is much easier not to have to put the thing together and take it back apart at the range.
You just need to determine you usage and decide what is best and even then you will do it both ways. I always used to take them down 10 years ago. Then I went through a period where I always left home and came back home with one barrel on the frame. Now I am back to taking them down.
The best solution, one barrel and one frame!!!! Nope, it will never happen in this household, and for all of us T/C lovers everywhere, do not let it happen in you household either!!!!
