Does this method entail sanding in the finish?

Yes, it entails wet-sanding in tung oil.

I just re-read the article.

The idea is to sand the stock using wet or dry papers and the finish of choice as the lube.  The mudd created by the sanding process fills the pores.  I have seen several variations differing mainly on how many times to sand, paper grit size and preperation of the stock before starting.  This process while not as bad as the commercial stock fillers does add silica to the pores and that spells problems for my checkering cutters..  Also if one's not careful it can produce a muddying of the details of the wood's figure and color variations,  It is also possible to alter the stock contours with all the sanding,(though most say to use very fine grits)..  Done correctly it produces a beautiful finish but creates an awful lot of work and time is a concern.  I've not seen the benefit myself but perhaps theres a new twist that works better.

Hi all -

Maybe a direct approach will work -

Can anyone tell me how to activate my email icon?

For those who've been waiting so long,

http://www.shootersforum.com/showthread.htm?t=10655

About halfway down the page, there's a d/lable attachment.
Any questions, just email when I get that part worked out,
or PM 'til then.    :-)

Again, my apologies for all the hassle.
