Is there any reason not to modify a Handi-Rifle so that you can decock it after opening the barrel instead of decocking over a live shell? Mine don't open with the hammer cocked.
Mitch.

I don't think any of the handis can be opened when its cocked and there is a reason for that....I wouldn't try to modify you rifle. Decock carefully and you should be ok as is with the built in safety bar.....

Mitch
remember that to FIRE the round you must pull and HOLD the trigger. Make it a habit when de-cocking to pull and release the trigger while holding the hammer. This will help insure a safe de-cock.
