Short barrled side by side?
« on: May 07, 2004, 04:54:38 PM »
I'm looking at the outside hammer Bounty hunter double barrle for CASS compitition and was wondering how efective the short barrel would be for rabbit and bird hunting or would it be limited to knocking down steels?  I'll be getting the one with replaceable choke tubes.

Thanks,

Will

:D Will. I have an old Stevens SxS cut back to 18 inches. It works great on early season birds and rabbits, it gets on them FAST. My range is limited due to no choke, but if you get tubes you won't have a problem killing at normal ranges. One thing though, it's hard to get any sort of smooth swing with the little gun, it's basically a snap shooting kind of thing.

Thanks Ramrod, that was what I was hoping to hear, looks like my cowboy guns are gonna have to do double duty.
