Sticky shells?
« on: May 10, 2004, 02:58:43 AM »
Has anyone ever had any problems with shells sticking in their NEF's? I shot on sat and had a lot of shells stick on me. it was about 93 degrees outside siting in the shade. The loads were not hot 24gr of IMR 3031 pushing a 55 sierra solid base. Any info is helpful. Henry.

Henry this seems to be a common problem with these little guns. Check back over past threads for common solutions. Most involve polishing the chamber with a non-abrasive compound. I used Flitz on a Hoppes cotton swab mounted in a cordless drill. Cured 90% of my problems. Remember you're just polishing not trying to remove metal. Good luck

Also be sure the ejector arm is clean, bur free, and crud free, and lightly oiled.  Alot of metal shavings in the ejector area will really weaken it's ability to throw the brass.

Before you go to polishing on chamber, you might give it a good cleaning first.

Make sure that there isn't any oil or solvent left in the chamber when you're ready to shoot it.

Henry, Flitz works pretty well.

Make sure your chamber is clean first though.

don't know if this would work or not but a very cheap and effective polishing compound is toothpaste-yup, ordinary toothpaste.Because that's exactly what toothpaste is- polishing compound.
