Browning B92-FANCY

Hello to All,
This one's for you Browning afficionados out there. I'm tempted to call myself one, too, as I used to own a B-92 in .44 mag., and have regretted selling it ever since. Anyway, at a gunshop in my area recently, I saw a Browning B-92 that had a silver inlay game animal of some kind on the receiver, (can't remember what) and gold outlining on it also. It has a 20" round barrel & is chambered for the .45 Colt cartridge. It's new & the man behind the counter said he wanted $1300.00 for it, but he'd knock a hundred off it if I was serious. Anyone out there got any ideas about what this thing is really worth? I looked on the Gunsamerica website but couldn't find anything. Thanx for your feedback. jd45.

I think for that kind of money, it would make an excellent wall hanger in his gunshop.

Check out Cabela's web-site ... and their "Gun Library"; they have a section for Brownings, as well as one for Commemorative rifles.  The stuff there ain't cheap, but it looks nice.  Selection is varied and updated regularly, so keep checking.

jd45 do you happen to know the current used value of the B-92 44 Mag you let go? I would love to have one myself if they are to be found reasonably priced nowdays. Thanks. POW

I just bought, tried, and sold a used one in around 90% shape for $325. In great shape, I've seen them tagged from $450 on UP to around $600.

For the higher price, I'd just as soon buy one of the limited run of Winchester re-issues if I wanted a '92 action. Of course, you would have to deal with the fact that it has an extraneous tang-safety button, however unobtrusive it is. 8)

I would snap a B-92 45 Colt up the second I saw it even if I had to use the my old and to well used Visa card. Just can't find them here in Canada.

Saw an article by a highly experienced gunsmith who said he liked the Rossi 92.  He wasn't comparing it specifically with the Browning, but said the Rossi was much better as a "source gun" to upgrade for cowboy use, than the similar current Winchester ... better quality materials and workmanship, he said.
