CBS slander of a knifemaker

I don't know if this is a good place to put this, but all things considered thought this would be a good place.  I also posted  this in the knives section so if you want to delete or move that's fine.

This is sad, to think this is what our country is coming to. I hope no one minds but I thought I'd get the word out a little being a part time maker myself. Granted his work is not to my personal liking but the way they treated him is just not right.

This boggles the mind. Is there no end to the stupidity?

I guess I had better watch out! My child goes to school within walking distance of a number of people who keep "former weapons of war" right in plain view of the school!

These particular weapons of war are horses. They used to be used by armored men who brutalized the poor peace loving people of the middle east. We should obviously be very concerned that these icons of oppression and violence are so near our impressionable children.

Give me a break!

That CBS reporter, and the Garfield, NJ neighbors, must be under thirty years of age and have never been to a working FARM, where such "weapons of war" are everday tools!

Yea, it's pretty sad and I couldn't believe it till after I had seen it.  There's a big thread over on bladeforums shop talk about it.  A lot of us have sent e-mails to the net work about the travesty they call breaking news.

Funny, I could have sworn the deadliest weapons imaginable started off with chemical, biological and nuclear weapons, not fantasy art knives swords and axes.  Maybe they forgot a little invention called gunpowder?

Or maybe they think a gang banger is going to run to his house and buy a 1200$ sword for a drive by swording?

Bad thing is there is no way Steve's "deadliest weapons" are designed to be weapons, the curves and shapes are inherently week and 440C while a good knife steel is not known for impact resistance which is needed in a "weapon"

Yeah, Wills, but the media has seldom cared much about facts over sales, finds details and explanations tedious and not "newsworthy", and is so far from true education that the two cannot even see one another.  The broadcast media in general does not want us to think, be critically informed, or respond in any way but emotional.  True cognition is anathema to them.

At the risk of making myself a target...Did everybody else miss the fact that he lied about his activities to a judge in court?  That's probably gonna get him shut down because he's breaking zoning laws.

I seems lame that everybody is shook up about the "dangerous" weapons when I've seen teens messing with alcohol and cars and that kills a lot more people!  So who is surprised that the legal system/government is missing the bigger danger in order to pick on the "politically correct" issue which is always easier to snow the general public?

By the way, I suggest that you send a message to the reporter with your feelings about this issue.  Be reasonable otherwise you will do more damage to the general public's perception of "weapon weilding radicals".  As for me, I just sent off my disapproving message.

Thanks B_Koes, the more properly written letters letting them know our displeasure about there sensationalism the better.  Knives are a back door into banning guns.  Keep going and we'll end up like the UK, you can't even carry a lock back there unless your job requires it.

Most of use are the stubborn individual types but if we don't exercise our rights now we will lose them and wonder why.

I am glad that they aired this "investigation", at least now everybody knows just how bad the media is.

Almost forgot, the zoning laws he did break and has to apear in court and at most are worthy of a fine.  Not that it excuses Steve, but the land loard he rented the house from new what he was doing and what he needed the shed for and never mentioned anything, nor was there any paperwork in the lease.  Of course he should have checked better, but it's easy enough to miss something like that.  He has since moved, not the least of which was the harrasment from his neibors.
