Standard or bull barrel?

I'm looking at possibility of buying an Encore carbine barrel in .17 Remington. In any of your experiences, will I see much benefit in having a bull barrel vs. a standard barrel? Thanks for any input.

Thanks for the input Chris. I'm leaning towards a 22" to 24" standard barrel, as I will be doing alot of stop & go while using it. I don't know if I would loose too much velocity by going w/ a 20" hvy barrel in 17 Rem. :?
