B P Cannon shoot today (5-15)
« on: May 15, 2004, 02:12:42 PM »
Today a black powder cannon shoot took place at the NRA Whittington Shooting Center at Raton, NM.  It was a sight to be seen.  Although, today there were only six full sized cannon on the firing line, it was well worth the trip.  Tomorrow, Sunday, I have been told, is the real match and bunch more are expected to participate.  Noted all but one was fuze fired and it was via lanyard.  Great thing about the lanyard, when the cord is pulled, the gun fires immediately - no waiting and hoping there is no mis-fire.  Each gun had the fuze ignited with a propane torch which sure beats the heck out of matches or smoldering cords.  I'm going back tomorrow and will get some digital pictures and will share them if any one is interested in seeing them.  I hate to impose on DD again, but I gave up on trying my luck at posting pictures.  If someone does want to see them and IF DD is agreeable to post them for me, I'll attempt to get some decent shots (pictures).  I'll also get the name of the cannon group/club. This type event may be old stuff for most of you guys but it's new and fascinating to me.   Sorry this is so lengthy...Blaster (Bob in CO)

DD........will do & it's appreciated.  I realize that you agreed to do these posts until I can get "walked" through the procedure but if it becomes a big "pain in the a--" for you to do this, PLEASE let me know and I'll quit bothering you with it.  Thanks. Blaster (Bob in CO)

Bob,

If it becomes a big pain in the backside for me you'll know.  You'll hear a knock on your door.  It'll be me.  I'll walk you through posting the pictures drink all your beverages, eat all your food, stay a week or two, use up all the clean towels and then leave...then you'll know the meaning of pain in the back side...in the mean time get those pictures here, we are a waiting, impatiently!!!
