I have an RC BS hand priming tool it is the one with the primer tray
I have noticed that the primers no longer feed from the tray into the primer tool (CCI, Winchester, Remington). I have even enlarged the hole in the plastic sleeve but they still will not feed.

I am now thinking about getting the RC BS APS hand priming tool ( uses the strips) the strip loader and some strips.
anyone know how how long the strips will last or are they a use once and toss?

any thoughts on them?

Check the tool with the detailed instructions,you must have something put together wrong.

Send it back to RCBS and get it fixed or replaced. Free.

Try a Lee hand primer. I used a Lee HP for several years, then I got an RCBS. I thought I would be "up-grading" with a better piece of equipment. I went back to the Lee. It works easier and does a better job of priming than the RCBS.

Could there be something down the hole that is not allowing the priming pin to drop all the way to the bottom? I had the same problem with mine and found a small piece of plastic in the hole. Took it out and it works fine since.

I have had a lee. I didn't care for how you had to take it apart. It has been a long time since I have had it and the only thing I Can remember about it is that it would keep popping apart in me.

I have called RCBS they sent me out some more of the plastic parts that the shell holder sits on but that did not work.

nope, the primming pis sits well below the "feed ramp"

Dumb question, but have you rotated the clear plastic so that the gate that is cast into it does not hold the primers back? I use an RCBS hand priming tool and it's been solid and reliable and has outlasted two Lee hand priming tools for me. It has been a good product.

yup the gate is way out of the way. The primers will go trough the loading ramp to the hole that leads to primer ram.

If your priming tool has the metal strip make sure it's not bent also are you using RCBS shellholders some other brands are too tight for the
plastic thing

I have been re-using the APS strips on my RCBS 2000 progressive press for 3 years without a problem. I load 38 specials and 45 colts. I think the strips work great.

Are you using small rifle primers? Mine is tricky to use with that kind of primer. I have to completely release pressure on the lever after priming a case, and jiggling the tool a little to keep primers fed. I've figured out the routine for making it work without problems, but it took a little experimentation.

The Lee tool is much better for this kind of primer. My RCBS tool works great with large primers.

I am having troubles with both large and small primers.

I think my wife will be getting me the APS loader, primer loader tool and some strips for me

That's not a bad idea, and the strips will work in some of the RCBS progressive presses if you every want to use them. The low-tech solution is just to buy a couple of Lee tools (a spare for when the first one breaks). The Lee tool is much less finicky than the RCBS tool. If you buy the primers in bulk, the cost of the primers already in strips isn't much more than those that are not. Of course, you'll be limited to either using CCI primers, or loading your own strips (which defeats the purpose.)

It's possible to put the ram in upside down ( with the round side up ).

It's also possible to have the parts meshed together so tight that the ram can't raise up. Moving the pan back out a hair usually fixes that although that doesn't sound like your problem.
