Hi, I was just at a local gun shop and I saw a Browning BLR in stainless steel with a laminated stock, Cal was 270 wsm. It was love at first sight. The clerk was of no help as to any other calibers this can be had in. If Browning makes it in a .308 or 7mm.08 I want one. Does anyone have any info on this rifle? It is not even listed in their website as an offering.

What do ya'll think about a SS version of this classic? The finish on the barrel was like a Ruger target grey color, the receiver was more shiny but not bright. The stock was grey laminate.

I thought that it looked very nice.

Salesman said that people either love the look or hate it, no real in between.

Dont know about the stainless, but Ive heard they are making .358winnies again. Might make me knock the dust off the piggy bank.

Yes browning are making the 358W.
Just bought one .
The price of ammo. here in Ontario is high , but as a reloader, find brass and bullets easy to come by.
The rifle is nice and light and sports a very good recoil pad.
They are fun to shoot and sighted in at the factory at 50 yards . A few clicks up on the rear sight brings you on the money at 100 yards using winchester ammo.

Hoping that this underrated cartridge catches on.
It sure has "the stuff" for the eastern woods. :grin:

Way to go, Happy! Nice pick-up. If Browning has the foresight to offer the 358 in stainless, I bet the deep woods hunters, bear bashers and buff busters would gobble them up!

I do not see the 358w making any waves . Here in central Ontario , with roaming farm land and mixed bush it is a great cartridge. But a box of bullets are over fifty bucks canadian , so your not going to blow away a few box's at the range. It is a 308 W case opened up to 35 Cal.
It is a reloaders rifle , very much suited for the eastern hunter for moose , deer and bear in a short action lever .
Black bear can run over the 400 pound plus, and I want to anchor one with one shot.
Want a bit more horse power and your into the 350 Rem Mag.

Buy one boys before they are gone.

The price is only going to go up.

Where I live , there is never a used 358 W browning on the rack very long. The shop has a waiting list. people seem to hang on to them as they do with the 350 Remingtons.
