History lesson needed
« on: May 30, 2004, 09:53:00 AM »
Looking at an older contender frame.  It does not have the rimfire/centerfire selector on top of the hammer.  Is this the predecessor to the frame with the selector on top of the hammer or were there others?  Are there any problems or differences to look out for?  Any info would be appreciated.  Thanks for your time.

I have three different models of Contender frames.  The oldest has no external safety.  The next oldest version has a cross block safety thru the hammer.  The latest version before TC introduced the G2 has the toggle safety on the top of the hammer.  I have had absolutely no problems with any of these three.  The best trigger on any of them is the earliest frame.  All barrels I have will fit and interchange with all frames.  The dates of production of the various frames is something I would have to look up.  I would not hesitate to buy a frame of any vintage if it was in good condition
