Simple Silhouette Questions

I'm putting on a match this weekend for a few guys to try silhouette, the problem is, I have never tried it either.  I have a general understanding of the rules and how the game should be played, but I need some help on the finer parts.  Like, how do you start a match?  I suppose you can start a guy on each bank of targets, but what if you have more shooters than banks?  Is there a provision at the start of the match for sighters?  What do you shoot your sighers into?  Silhouettes?  Or paper?  Do you shoot 40 in a row, or is there some sort of break you take at halfway or something?

There are two sanctioned formats that I know of NRA and the IHMSA.  Each has a slightly different way the match is started.  Which format are you going to use?

We are using nra hunter pistol rules.  We may have 15 people or so.

I think they fill the line from the very start so you may start out on any of the 4 animals.  In the IHMSA version of the game everyone starts on chickens.  

I think Mugs shoots HP a bunch he can give you a better run down than I can on HP.

All NRA clubs I've shot with shoot the same format as IHMSA. All shooters starting on chickens.

When I started IHMSA, I used to think that was a silly rule.  Now, I'm a big fan of it.  Use the chickens to get elevation, use the pigs to get windage.  Use  the turkeys to just get through the silly things and then have fun on the rams.

I don't know if NRA has thier rules on line, but it might not be a bad idea to print off and take with you the IHMSA rules.  Yeah, some need some work, but for the most part, it'll problem solve for you when and if things happen.

Most importantly, if it's a non-sanctioned match, try your best to run it right, but more importantly, run it safe and run it fun.
