Just to see what it would look like I tried running a 357 mag case into the 300 whisper die. Same body, rimmed, with a somewhat shorter neck. Hey, this thing looks like it'll work! And a whisper reamer with a shoter neck wouldn't be all that big a deal to get made. What a neat Contender or Martini cartridge, or possibly rechamber a 30 carbine Blackhawk? Hmmm......

I have been thinking of doing just about the same thing with .360 DW cases.  They are a bit longer that .357 mag cases but much shorter than .357 max cases.  This would be for a small single shot rifle, probably a de Haas Chicopee C.F.

What weight bullets do you have in mind?  The whispers are usually throated for long heavy ones.  I am leaning toward using a slow twist and setting it up for bullets around 110gr.

I think the popular modern name for what you are creating is .30-221 Rimmed, but Ackley Vol II listed it as the .30/357 Paxton or the .30/357 Hoskins.
