Contender scope bases on an Encore
« on: June 29, 2004, 02:59:59 PM »
I had  some bases I took off contenders  and I tried  them on Encore barrels and the bases fit.
I noticed that Leupold and Weaver show different bases for  the two. What is the difference for the bases ?
The ones I installed was a Redfield and a Tasco.Have not put barrels on a frame to try just mounted scopes on bases.

Contender scope bases on an Encore

The radius that the base sets on is different. If you look close you will see a gap under the middle of the base as the encore diameter is larger than the Contender. If you put an Encore base on a Contender it may want to rock from side to side as the radius is too large on the bottom of the base.  KN
