I had a .307 Winchester model 94 XTR Big Bore once. They  tend to be accurate and have more recoil than the .30-30 Winchester. For typical .30-30 ranges I do not believe the .307 has any appreciable benefits over the 30 WCF. The caliber did not "take off" for Winchester so they dropped it along with the .356, .375, and ,444 from their line up. I believe the .444 to be the best of the bunch for several reasons that I will not go into right now. Just think of the .307 as a .308 with a rim for all practical purposes.

Kindest regards,
Rifle Man

THANKS LEVERGUNLOVER FOR THE INFO
THE CHOICE I'M TRYING TO MAKE AT THE MOMENT IS BETWEEN THE NEW MARLIN "SPIKEHORN" 30-30 AND THIS USED 307 WIN..IF YOU HAD TO PICK ONE WHICH ONE WOULD YOU PICK.

Not to butt in, but since you asked...

I would get the .307, simply because they don't make it anymore. It would be more interesting to have than a 30/30 just in bragging rights alone. Plus, there is more value in trade at a later date than the Spikehorn might bring.

I am probably a little biased in my opinion since I lucked into a .375 Win 94 and a .356 Win 94AE to go with my Win 94BB .444 Marlin. A .307 Win and a 7-30 Waters would finish up my collection rather nicely.

But it boils down to what you want out of the gun.
