Savage Striker

I have a Striker in 243 Win with the adj muzzle break.   I like it but it is a very big gun. I thought my Lone Eagle was big and heavy but it feels small compaired to the Striker.  Not the type of handgun you want to carry all day walking in the woods. I find myself using it only where long shots will be taken or when I am sitting in  a stand for extended  periods of time. My Contender still gets the nod for woodswalking. After shooting up 100 rounds of 90 gr.  Nosler Balistics Tips I gave up trying to find a load for them. Mine shoots them into a nice big pattern. After that I just randomly picked a load out of the manual useing 100 gr. sierra bullets and was rewarded with a .6" group at 50 yards. Not great but with some tweaking I will get to the 1" at 100 yards.
       I have been told the triggers are terrible but mine is great. I bought it used so I don't know if it has been worked on or not.  You can  also buy after market triggers for them.
      The Strker is chambered in 243, 7mm08, 308 Win and 300 WSM.  So if you want the rounds you listed it would be a custom job, if  poss?  The Striker is designed to handle the higher pressure rounds so it would be kind of a waist to spend extra $ to get the rounds you listed.  As I said mine has the adj muzzle break.  I dont like mine. With the 243 it is not needed. The extra noise and muzzle blast is not worth it . With the 300 WSM maybe
      All in all I like the Striker and for the money it is a good value.  Plus the 3 round capacity is nice. Hope this helps, Lone Eagle

I also have a Lone Eagle in 7mm08. It is a nice pistol. Mine has the old grip design.  I would love to find a new grip asmbly. The trigger pull is very long and heavy.  I pollished the sear on mine and got it better. I hear the new grips asbly has a better trigger. I use mine for hunting deer at fairly close range so it does not bother me much.
   You load the Lone Eagle buy first cocking it by pulling the cocking lever to the rear[ mounted on the left side of the frame], Put on the safty. Rotate the breach to the open possition, install cartridge, rotate breach to the clossed possition.  It sounds complicated but only takes a second.
   It  does weighs more than a Contender  but with it's mid grip design it is shorter than a contender with the same length barrel. It realy is a nice compact single shot. I also like the safty mounted next to the trigger nice and convenient.
   If you do buy one make sure you buy every thing you want because they wont sell any thing sepperate. Magnum Research dropped the line so they are no longer being made so parts could be a problem in the future, but a goob gunsmith could probly make any thing that mite break.
