Main spring - hammer
« on: June 04, 2004, 09:14:38 AM »
Today the main spring for the hammer broke.  Past the years, 7-800 shots in cal. 30-30 have been shot through it.  One year ago - I bought me a barrel in .375 JDJ, and have fired about 500 shots.  Can the reason for a broken spring be the recoil from the JDJ?  Or is it only a "tired spring which wanted to end it`s life"?

That is pretty common at silhouette matches where we shoot a pretty high number of shots.  Many silhouetters keep extra springs (fly hammer spring is another that breaks) and pins on hand.  I have even seen a homemade spring tool for putting the new hammer spring in which is a bit of a pain to put in and then line up the pins.  TC is good about getting spare parts out to you as a concellation   quote="Sverre A."]Today the main spring for the hammer broke.  Past the years, 7-800 shots in cal. 30-30 have been shot through it.  One year ago - I bought me a barrel in .375 JDJ, and have fired about 500 shots.  Can the reason for a broken spring be the recoil from the JDJ?  Or is it only a "tired spring which wanted to end it`s life"?[/quote]
