Another tasco sucker

Yup I am another tasco sucker, I new better. I got a wc and mounted it on my 30/30. After a box I would not hold zero. It was all over the place.
I have not owned an american made scope yet, now thats all I will buy.
My bushnell trophy has never let me down (on my 30/06) but I think I am at a point in
my hunting life where I am ready to step up in class of scopes.
The 30/30 will get a leupold 4x when I get the chance.
I am not saying japanese scopes won't do it, just that for me I think
american is it.

Well, nowadays, it's kinda hard to know which is american and which is not.  I say this in part because Bushnell is a US company, but it's Elite scopes are made in Japan.  Doesn't quite matter to me because the Elites are SUPERB scopes.

Leupold is a US company, and I think that all of their glass is made here too, but I could be wrong.

Still, whether US or foreign, the old Tasco scopes were not something that I would buy.  Nope, you can't go wrong with a fixed (or variable) Leupold, but don't overlook the Elites - because I think that they are just as good, if not better, than the Leupolds (except the LPS).

As I stated in a previous post, one of the manufactures for Tasco told me that Tasco had $30,000,000 in defective returns which were bought-out by buyers and dumped back into the market. I wouldn't be surprised if some dealers that don't move much merchandise still hold some of these defects.

I agree with Zachary. Some scopes made in Japan are great glass. One scope that is made in Japan I would consider for a 30-30 is a Weaver 1x3. I just ordered a Leupold VX2 1x4 from The Optic Zone. I considered the Weaver but decided since it's going a 7-08 I wanted a tad more magnification. I had a Weaver 2x10 and gave it to a freind when I bought a new scope last year. I used it several seasons and it served me well.

Four words:

Leupold, Nikon, Bushnell Elite

All 3 are excellent, and reasonably priced.
