Wanted: 338 Win mag 275gr Speer Semi Spitz
« on: June 09, 2004, 08:32:14 AM »
My local supplier does not carry this particular type. It flys well in my piece. If you have these or any other 338 bullets I will purchase them off
of you. I want to thump Mr. bear and Mr. Moose so that they don't go running for the next guy to tag. Email me.

thanks
John :biggun:

I've got a collection of bullets and cases in .338. Later tonight I get them out ,count em and you can make me an offer. I think there is at least one full box of the 275 grain Speers in there though.

Well it's later than I thought.  It looks like I have 70 rounds of reloads, full length sized in once or twice fired brass using the same powder charge.  The primer being a CCI 250 and the powder charge in all cases is 71.o grains of AA 3100.  The bullets used are the Barnes X 225 grain, the Sierra 250 grain BTSP, the Hornady 250 grain round nose and the 200 grain Speer Spitzer flat base.  The load is near maximum for the 250 grain bullets and the rest were loaded with the same powder charge in the hopes of getting them to group to the same point of aim.  The unhappy part is that I can't seem to find the 275 grain Speers or the rest of the Barnes X bullets.  Possibly traded off but have to look further.

I killed a nice brown bear with a 275 grain Speer bullet.  It worked pretty good.  He was quartering twards me, and i shot him in the faceing shoulder, and the bullet broke that shoulder and excited out the opposite quarter of the bear.  He turned to run away, and my second shot hit him just above his pooper and took out 12" of back bone and exited out through the top of the hide.

Fairly tough bullet, i'm not sure it would make a good "all around" bullet for the .338 though.

I shot the caribou in the picture with a 250 Sierra BT.  It was the first version of the bullet, not the tougher "second version".

Just as a note to everyone I am looking for the bullets not loaded ammunition. In order to ship these bullets into Ontario Canada they would have to be unloaded, just the bullets please, otherwise they would fall under the hazerdous materials (HAZMAT).

Yes I would be interested in purchasing them off of you.
When I shoot I don't want the next hunter tagging it.
