The Pledge of Allegiance
« on: June 09, 2004, 06:32:16 AM »
Since the Pledge of Allegiance and The Lord's Prayer are not allowed in most public schools anymore because the word "God" is mentioned....  a kid in Arizona wrote this NEW School prayer:

Now I sit me down in school

Where praying is against the rule

For this great nation under God

Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,

It violates the Bill of Rights.

And anytime my head I bow

Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,

That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.

The law is specific, the law is precise.

Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall

Might offend someone with no faith at all.

In silence alone we must meditate,

God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,

And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.

They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.

To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,

And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.

It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,

We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,

Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.

But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,

No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,

When chaos reigns the school's a mess.

So, Lord, this silent plea I make:

Should I be shot, my soul please take!

                                                                    Amen

A HEADS UP!!!

    Check it out!

A friend of mine sent me an e-mail saying that Pepsi has a new "Patriotic" pop can.
He says it has some of the patriotic symbols....flag, Statue of Liberty etc., along with the Pledge to the Flag....
One problem...the words "under God" have been omitted from the Pledge. He said he called Pepsico and they gave a lame excuse about "not offending" anyone.
I would believe that by so doing, they have offended far more people than had they left it as it should be!
Frankly; I believe that their research dept. would have informed them of such.
Normally, one would think...if I can't do it right, why do it at all?

Is there an underlying truth about Pepsico coming out???

Easy to understand why the brands generally end up in popularity as follows:

             Pepsi- choice of Liberals

             Coca-Cola- choice of Conservatives

     Something to think about!
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

First of all, I am a conservative and I do like Pepsi better. It's got that citric acid in it which I like.
That is neither here nor there.
This is a scam post that has been going around since last year or maybe even two years ago.
Pepsico NEVER issued these so-called patriot cans.  You can contact them yourself to verify the truth.
My guess is someone at coke used the internet in a desperate, yet intelligent way to boost sales.

Actually, for true conservatives, the pledge does not include "under God".

Dang newfangled PC revisionism.

"under God" was added in 1954  to show the world that the US is different from the atheist Soviet Union.  I guess that SOME people now want to show that the US is NOT all that much different from the Soviet Union!  Those same "some" people must wish that the US was more like the Soviet Union!  There's a name for them; Communists.

Dali Llama postulate that operational definition of "newfangled" be somewhat relative in grand scheme of things. :-)
