Wichester 100 Accuracy?
« on: February 16, 2004, 08:49:06 PM »
Does anyone use a Wichester Model 100 and ever get any accuracy out of it?

The one I had would creep as it heated up...3 shots would heat it!

The Model 88 does the same thing...maybe I creep?

Winchester 100 Woes

:-D
I owned one of those contraptions in the early 70s. Winchester actually had a recall, sent it in. So what, never gave me good accuracy or decent dependability. It at least cycled, but still had jams. Perhaps I had the lemon Winchester 100 of all time. It never shot better than 3-4 inches at 100 yards and it walked its shots with every change in barrel temperature or climate change. Sold it and bought a Marlin .444. Never looked back.

Figured it was...

Figured it wasn't my fault (for once)!

I only have them because they were my father's. The Model 100 was never real reliable...but the 88 has bagged a few. They just sit there looking pretty now. (I could make a bad joke...but you will have to think up your own).

Thanks

Wichester 100 Accuracy?

I have a model 100 in .308 (which was my fathers also) and have never had the least problem with it.   Took a Whitetail last season in excess of 400 yards.   The accuracy is outstanding IF I use Remington Core-Loct ammo.  Can't brag on it if using any other ammo.  Go Figure.
