223 question

I have recently came across what seems to be quite a deal in a semi-automatic 223.  The only concern I have is that no one I know has ever owned one of these.  The rifle is an EAA Saiga and it was priced at $150.  Can anyone tell me how these rifles perform and whether or not it is worth this price?  Thank you all for any help.

I have one but have only shot it one time and have not correctly zeroed it's sights as yet. Obviously, it is fun to shoot on semi. Reports from owners of other Saigas seem to indicate that they will shoot 1-2" groups at 100 yards, sometimes smaller and sometimes larger. The trigger is pretty stiff and I am having a trigger job done to my rifle in a couple of weeks. Also, I have replaced the front sight with a KNS Precision and the rear with a Mojo peep, both of which I hope will improve my shooting.

A number of owners of Saigas have them converted into AK-47 clones of various kinds and this is easily done by companies such as Global Trades.

Too bad I haven't shot mine more and I could give you a more complete report. Good luck.

P.S., if you have found a new Saiga .223 at $150, that is the cheapest deal that I have heard of anywhere and definitely worth the price. (In case you didn't know, the rifle's guts are the same as a Kalishnikov AK-47, just sporterized for the U.S. market)

This is a good quality semiauto rifle that is suitable for plinking and personal defense.  As another poster mentioned, it is basically a sporterized AK, with better-than-typical-AK fit and finish.

It would make a fun gun for hunting coyotes if you had a partner with a bolt action... you take everything within 100 yards or running, and he takes the long range stationary shots.  Think of it as analogous to a stock Mini-14 (except probably more accurate).

They are a good deal at $200, and if you paid $150 for one you bought it for way less than dealer cost.

I recently had my eye on a saiga 223

I was thinking about buying a saiga 223 semi auto for $225. Is that a good price, i will mostly use it for coyotes and varmits. Is that a good gun to get, or is there something better, with a price around $250.
