Weight of Marlin 336CS/ walnut?
« on: December 09, 2004, 12:34:35 PM »
Dear Guys,

I am researching what type of lever action carbine to buy.  Of course, the Marlin 336 CS, with 20 inch barrel, and walnut stock, must always be near the top of the list.

But I don't have any way to measure the actual weight of one of these rifles.

Does anyone know the weight?

Thanks,

Big Paulie

I've got two M336s in .35 Rem. One from the '50s with Williams Peep weights 6 pounds even. The other from the '70s with Bushnell Banner 1.5-4.5 weights 7-3/4 pound. Dunno if that helps or not.

I would be thinking of a new one, in 30-30.

It strikes me that perhaps, the Marlins in .35 Remington might weigh a little more than the 30-30s?  Not sure though.

Theyre all around 6 lbs without a scope. All that is with a 20" barrel.

If the 35 is different 'd say its likely slightly lighter on account of its got a larger bore with the same barrel contour & dia.

If you check Marlins web page I believe they list the weights of the different models in the specs, as well as barrel length & twist.
