I ask some questions on these before and they seemed to get a good response.  What I didn't ask was how well they worked in bright sunlight.  is the dot visible?

I've tried both BSA and Tasco red dots. On either handguns or rifles I seem to be OK up to 50 yards. After that the bright sun makes it difficult for my eyes. If I just want to hit a 8 inch circle (paper plate or kill zone) I can stretch it to 100 yards. But if trying to shoot groups to evaluate loads, 50 yards is my limit.
Good shooting..mt

Thanks, I'm not as worried about the grouping thing as losing it in the sun.  here in So. Cal it gets very bright even though it's usualy much darker in the woods.

I like the new Bushnell cause it can go from dots to crosshairs.  rosshairs for groups and dots for hunting.  Planning on this going on 45-70 barrel.

I think better than each of those mentioned for the price is the Simmons 30 MM red dot. I think the number is 800879. Wholesale hunter has them for $28.00. A better warranty the Tasco and a better red dot also. And you can't beat the price...I have one and it's as good as my Millet Red Dot although the red dot on the Millet is a bit smaller, about 3 MOA I think. No problem with either one at 100 yards for about 3 inch groups. without even trying hard!!!...<><....

Handirifle,
I have the 4 reticle Bushnell red dot.  It is plenty bright in the daytime.  I shot from 12-2pm a few weeks ago on a clear Arkansas day with the dial set on 6 (out of 11).  Of course I was sitting in the shade come to think of it, so if you are in the open then you might get more washout.  In any event, the target was white paper and the dot/circle was very easy to see.

Thanks that's what I wanted to know about.  Shade or not if you were only at 6 out of 11 still leaves a lot more brightness.

Handirifle, do you think that it will stand up to 45-70 recoil OK?

Handirifle,
I noticed the price on these is real cheap at the gun shows. I looked at a couple at the last show I was at, and ended up buying the single recticle for $19.00. I haven't tried it on a rifle yet, but have checked it outdoors in sunlight, and it seemed quite good.
