plague of wild pigs in Crawford County Wisconsin

found this in todays online WSJ.  Thought it might be of interest to wild pig hunters living in the area.
NIGHT STALKERS:Legislators from an uneasy border state are thinking of bringing in federal sharpshooters with night goggles. But it's not what you think. A dispatch in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that in northern Wisconsin's Crawford County folks are being menaced by marauding wild pigs tearing up crops and wreaking havoc. State Rep. DuWayne Johnsrud is quoted saying that the "plague" will not get the attention it deserves until the boars move out of the countryside and into more upscale areas. "Wait until they plow up some nine-hole and start crapping on the golf course," he told the paper. "Then people will say, 'We need a task force.' "
Everybody changes their minds sometimes but a fool and a mule.

hardly a plague.  a few have been killed by some local farmers.  even they say that the pigs are very elusive and sightings are rare; and when seen they are shot.   the locals outright hate anyone seeking information on the pigs; i found out the hard way.   people have hounded the folks in the area so badly the hogs are the least of their worries.   a better bet is to hunt the black river bottoms west of medford.  two older ladies had 150 head wild russian boar and somehow or another (i have heard two varying accounts) the boar were released into the bottoms.   information isnt easy to come by, but the population exists and there is land access; unlike the southern part of the state where landowner consent is needed and isnt going to be granted.   folks were really friendly there until the topic was approached.  then some of the coldest treatment ever.   a way better outlook by the folks in taylor county near medford.    concentrate on the land around the river bottoms and be aware of what property you are on and you should have a good time.

yep.   now i guess it is out.   but i havent had time to get back over there so i figure anyone interested might as well use the information.   with my kids being their age (3 and 1) i dont have time for much of anything.   all i ask is anyone who benefits from my info pass on what they learn or experience back to me.  i am real interested to see how folks do.  and pictures would be great.
