Do you have a wood or synthetic stock set on the 45-70? It should fit but if it doesn't and needs some adjustment the wood set will be easier to adjust the clearence on.  Be sure to ask the factory for the "FREE" trigger job on your receiver while it's in there to get get barrel fitted!

I'm going to say it will fit just fine but send it in with the receiver and ask them to make sure it will fit while they have it...no problems. You'll prolly have to do some fine tuning any way when ya get it back...good luck it's a looooonnnnggggggggggg wait!    I just sent one in a couple days ago myself....

The forearm should fit fine.  I have an Ultra that was originally chambered for .223.  I sent it in and had a 45-70 barrel fitted and the forearm fits both barrels perfect.

Honestly, I think they are the same barrel, just bored out more or less depending on the caliber.

Wlscott,

On a bad day of shooting, I accuse them of using 1" sucker rods to make the barrels.  OTOH, it could just be a way of venting on a bad day.

Sometimes I think all of my barrels are made out of it.
