Saw a nice .22 Hornet for sale

Saw a nice .22 Hornet at Lone Star Guns with scope for $175 here in Plano Texas.  Please buy it first before lust overtakes me and I pick it up to have it rechambered to .219 Zipper!!   :grin:

Pick, I know for a fact no one else is ever going to buy that gun. It is going to call out to you everytime you enter the shop and then later it will start to call your name just as you are dropping off to sleep. So to save yourself much anguish and many sleepless nights go and buy it. Offer the seller $150.00 and buy it for his first counter offer. If his counter offer is still $175.00 then just have him sweeten the pot by adding a couple boxes of shells or a set of dies for the Hornet or Zipper, your call but - Do it, Do it, Do it!!! :twisted: ....<><.... :grin: :grin:

Pick That is what I did, bought a 22 hornett [$ 200.oo]  thence  
  recambered it to 22 zipper. You can recamber yourself. Jusst take
extractor out. thence order a 30-30 extacter from Brownells. then widen
the space for the extracter[in the barrel] with a moto tool.  I still have extaction problems with sticking brass. need to polish camber good.
 all of your brass has to be made from 30-30 or 25-35. Dies for 22 zip
are real high at midway. Marv.

Handis hold their value too well. It's nuts for a $200 dollar gun to sell used for $175.

This would only be a good thing if I ever figgered on selling one. Since I don't, it's BAD!

I agree, I bet he wouldn't give you anywhere near $175 if you were trading that rifle in. I know what it's like to have a Handi call you, but in this case, I'd rather buy new.

:shock: WoW they are proud of those zipper dies arn't they...I wonder what makes them so expensive???? They don't appear to be gold plated!  :roll:

Pick,

I think I would have to look at the serial number and the receiver and make sure it was a late model SB2 before I paid that for it.  A new one from Wallie World is only $187 and you know it could have additional barrels fitted by NEF.  If it's a case hardened receiver, NEF probably won't put any barrels on it besides shotgun/muzzle loader types.

I just checked Midwayusa.com. As much as I like uncommon/wildcat chambers, I'm not touching the Zipper. Hornady & Redding dies are steep, RCBS die prices are a deal killer for me, Quality brass at $27/20 is a deal killer, and I can buy a new rifle for the price of an RCBS 30-30 to Zipper form die. Redding does have a $55 form die.

I wish I'd bought 1000 225Win brass when Midway had some last winter.

22/30-30 sounds like fun, but RCBS die prices are no fun.
