Tritium sights for a P232?
« on: July 23, 2004, 06:14:08 AM »
Does anyone know whether SIG can install these on a 232? Or do they offer it as a purchase option only?

Since the front sights are not in a dovetail, they would have to be drilled for a tritium insert. I don't think SIG does it but maybe one of the bigger sight manufacturers does this. Check around. They are a factory option, not an add-on.

Thanks. Wish I'd known in the first place that it was a factory option.

Jacobtown,
I purched a Sig 232 with night sights [I don"t know if that's tritium or not] and they are really bright at night. It also came with Hogue finger grips. I bought it through Davidsons about 5 months ago. At the range last week the little 232 could outshoot my Sig 239 in 357 Sig!

I don't doubt it. This 232 is one accurate little pistol. On a good day (and there aren't enough of those, right?) I hit cans at 40 yards.

They are great shooters and good CCW pistols. I have the Stainless and love it. I think Trajicon (spelling obviously wrong) will do the sights for it.

Called SIG yesterday. My 232 would require a new slide at over $400. So I could buy a new one and keep this for a spare at that price.
Trijicon uses a gunsmith to install their night sights - the front sight is drilled for the insert. Will call the smith today for prices.

FYI:
It's $165 labor and parts, and $15 shipping and insurance each way for the slide - total about $200.
Think I'll save my pennies and buy a new 232 - keep this one for practice and a spare.
