rechambering 7.5 swiss

I was wondering if it was possible to rechamber thr 7.5 swiss to a more common round? i've seen praise for the rifle but the ammo is a little harder to get. would that be a viable option or is it just a waste of money?
Has anyone done this already? thanks for any info

and go down to the question of converting to .308 I think you'll get your answer.

You can get the non-corrosive and berdan primed "match" ammo for $.39 a round and in bulk for $.35 a round. I can attest to it's accuracy.

You can get boxer primed Portugese made ammo for about $.60 a round.

Not as cheap as other milsurp ammo but these rifles will hold their own with any milsurp rifle around and for the time being they are inexpensive.

Depends on which model rifle you've got.
The older '89's can't take high pressure, but I've got one thats been rechambered to .30-30.
A simple chamber reaming, and a filler- block in the mag. is all it took.
I DO have to set my sights at 400yd. to shoot at 100, but the old girl speaks a lot more than she would otherwise.

badgerben:  why go through the trouble?  There are firms out there producing the 7.5 Swiss cartridge and another new one just started making the brass cases for that caliber.  I used to handload that caliber a number of years ago and wouldn't both going down scale to the 308.  The 7.5 is a 308 bore and will do as well or better than the 308.  I had a lot of fun reloading for that straight pull bolt and the reloads were very accurate.  I would use that rifle/cartridge combination before I would go to the 308.  Heck, save yourself the money and stock up on brass - since it has a common 308 bore diameter you will be in fine shape.  Just my 2 cents wroth here.  Mikey.
