Charles Daly/ DGW/ Lyman

Hello everyone.  This is my first post.  I've been hanging out for quite a while and really enjoy reading and learning.  You all have been a wealth of information.  :D

Hoping someone can help me with this question.  I have a 50 cal. perc. Charles Daly that I purchased about 25 years ago.  On the barrell it says made in Italy for Charles Daly.   It also says on the barrell that an instruction manual is available from Investarms SPA Marcheno Italy. I'm of course thinking that the rifle was made by Investarms in Italy.

On page 42 of the Dixie cataloge is a DGW Hawken Rifle which was mfg by Investarms /Italy. This rifle appears to be the exact same rifle tht I have down to every detail.

Then, I notice that the Lyman rifles are also mfg. by Investarm/ Italy. I'm just wondering if they are all basically the same quality of rifle since they are all made Investarms.  Thanks

skippy 10Z,

First, let me say welcome to Greybeard.  There are some very knowledgeable people on this site.  One of them might post an answer after this one.

I would believe that each company had it's own specifications on the rifles it received from Investarms.  One might prefer a hardwood stock, another might want a walnut stock but with less depth and more twist to it's rifling.

I remember seeing the Charles Daly rifles in the black powder section of some old Gun Digest Annual books.  I believe that they commanded an above average price.

If it is accurate, and you like it's looks, and it does what you want it to do,  it has great value.
