Does anyone know if CCI still manufacures the shot capsules for loading shotshells in 38spl? If so, where can I order them online?
Thanks,
Savage

I just bought some 44sp & 45Lc's and noticed there was some 38's all were CCI's. Bye the way these are factory loads, not component capsuls, I hear some people call them domes as well, I was going to reload some rat shot, but as many as I will use its cheaper to buy them factory loaded.  Aim small hit small. RAMbo.

P.S. I found this site for you.

I just ordered them from Cabelas.com. Costs about $7 + shipping for 38s.

Well,----I reload for 38spl anyway so it's cheaper for me to reload them. A box of 100 shot caps will last longer than I will. I like to load #9 shot over 3gr of Bullseye for a somewhat quieter report and better patterning at the lower velocity. The quieter report is important in a populated area such as I live in. I carry a 2" mdl 36 loaded with this fodder around my place for snakes. I live on a 7000 acre lake in AR and there's no shortage of snakes. As long as they stay in the lake, there's no problem. When they come up into my yard they die! Quickly, I might add, this load kills um like lightning!!

Questor, Just curious, is that for a box of 100 capsules?
I just looked at a box I have and they were 3.99 for 50 and I didn't buy them that long ago.

That's for 10 finished cartridges. I got them on Friday and tried a couple of shots, and they'll work fine for what I want. Pattern at 5 feet is about 5". About 8" at 8 feet.  I laid the paper on the ground, drew a 3/4" dot on it and fired. Both shots had pellets through this dot.  I think Midsouth also sells the emptly plastic capsules in bulk, for those that want to load a bunch of them.

By the way, you get quite a strong plastic smell when I fire one. Hopefully I'm not fouling my barrel too badly.

There are about 135 pellets in the 38/357 shotshells. That's plenty for close range like that.

The 45LC does pack a good payload of shot, but my Blackhawk is a bit on the large side to pack around my yard. The 38 snubby kills snakes graveyard dead at reasonable ranges. Might try some skeet with the 45 LC loads though!
