No throwing knives but: I have a G-2 question ?
« on: January 11, 2003, 06:25:40 AM »
I have pretty much looked over all the back posts on the G-2. I can see where people are getting a little tired of the wait. But, if it comes out (and I did say if) what is it suppose to have for calibers. Is it just going to cover existing contender calibers or will it be stronger allowing it to also take on some of the encore calibers.

marv - I talked to a wonderful lady at T/C when the rumor came out that they are not producing 10" and 21" barrels any more (true rumor). The G2 came up in our phone call, she gave me February 2003 as the latest release date (could have changed by now AGAIN), and said the G2 is designed to use all existing Contender barrels PLUS two(2) new chamberings. The Encore barrels will still be strictly Encore usage. I don't recall what the new chamberings were anymore, but a blackpowder barrel sticks in my mind - not sure. Frame has been changed to fall between the Contender and Encore w/ a smaller grip, and the re-cocking without braking open the breech design from the Encore. T/C will be introducing factory 12" barrels w/ the G2. I'm assuming this is to replace the 10" barrels. (new class for handgun comp. division?)
