I finally broke down and put a scope on my 444P. My eyes just cant pick up those open sights reliably anymore. I went to Wally World and got some weaver rings and bases, and put on a Simmons 4X32 compact shotgun scope on it. What a combo!!! A cloverleaf 3 shot group at 100 yards. I couldn't have done any better. I am not a big fan of Simmons scopes, but I have heard good things about their shotgun scopes. 5" of eye relief, but narrow field of view, but a good compromise. I'd recommend this set-up to anyone.
$12 for bases and rings
$50 for scope
clover leaf group...priceless

I'm a bit surprised about the scope - I hope it lasts for you.

What I did want to say is something that you mentioned regarding eye relief and FOV.

Generally speaking, scopes with a long eye relief will have shorter FOVs, and scopes with wide FOVs will have shorter eye relief.
