That is the way to go - lot less expensive that way....

This is where I get my Nosler Sabots, which will work in your Knight really well...  $4.00 for fifty

http://www.wholesalehunter.com/

I continue to by Hornady XTP's for recreational/target shooting and actually you can get them at Wal-Mart, if your Wal=Mart doesn't have them ask them about ordering them - somewhere around $10.00 a box.  I shoot both 44's and 45's but if you are after 300 grains then you'll need to get 45's - For hunting I use Nosler Partitions but thay are to expensive to play around with you can get them in 44 - 250gr.  45-260 or 300grain, and even a .458 (45-70) in a 300 grain partition (Hornady makes a .459 300 grain Hollow Point for target practice, but you will have to get sabots for these from either MMP or Knight
Keep shooting muzzleloaders - they are a blast....

I buy a lot of my bullets and sabots from www.natchezss.com or www.grafs.com I shoot MMP and Hornady sabots and mostly Hornady bullets, I also use nosler and speer once in a while.  For my 45 cal I had to order the MMP sabots from Cabela's everyone else was out of stock.

Here is another source for MMP, but remember he makes several varieties of the same caliber, you need to know what size 50 cal you need.  His standard 45x50x12 is to thick for all of my guns - that is the one that Hornady is using - I think...  When i order directly from MMp I order 45x50x24 the petals are thinner and the whole thing will go down the barrel with out standing on the range rod...

i hate to say it but i shot cva powerbelts, i tryed the hole sab. thing an it just dident group good for me an so i started shooting 295 hp belts an i have a one inch group at 100 with 3 rounds with 100 grains of piro, an the avg group is 2 at 150 with the same so seeing them i stoped junked the rest an stayed with that
no mind you im shooting a cva hunter bolt mag that cost 220$  that inclued every thing except scope rings mounts primers an piro it has every thing else all the cleaning supplys  speed loaders an such, i put a junk simmons 3-9x32 scope on it with sime millet rings an weaver mounts the hole thing including 100 pellets of piro an primers was a hair shy of 260$
but the point im tryen to make is try the power belts before droping lots of $$ in to different bullets for the sab.
