Hi all I've been lurking in the shadows and posting every so often.

This is one of the many forums I visit at Greybeard.

I live here in south-central Kansas.

I want to get started trapping again I ran a small trap line when I was a kid (all box traps). Now that I'm older and my son wants to learn trapping or at least watch dad do it. I need to learn how to do it right so its time for dad to learn

I have 2 older traps .5 or something close to it (it worked great on Pack rats) and#1 they are both in working condition. So that will be my start so to speak.

I want to trap coon, Fox, Bobcat, yote.

All I caught when I was a kid was rabbit, squirrel, opposim, skunk, and feral cats (ditch tigers I like to call them)

Is there a fur dealer near Wichita Kansas so I can take my furs to?

Which is better selling in the round or skinned and tanned?

Thanks Guys I know you will lead me in the right direction.

I can't help with finding a fur buyer, but when you do find one give him a call. He'll tell you the way he prefers to buy furs.
Your choices in order of ease of handling the furs will be
"in the round",
skinned but green,
and skinned,dried and stretched.
After you talk to a buyer and are still in doubt about making a choice, go visit him in person if he's local. Most fur buyers are more than happy to show you how they like and want the furs handled since it makes them   more money too.

For starters you will need a few more traps.

I would go with a 160 conibear or 220 if legal for coon.  And for cat's, fox and yotes.  I think you may get by with a #2 Bridger or #3 Bridger.
