Only if I know that its once fired for rifle brass. 9mm & 45acp brass I'm not so picky about.   KN

I used to pick up range brass and could not get, what I thought were good groups. All the different cases seemed to shoot different. Now I get one lot of brass for that rifle and turn necks...Groups are better. I will still pick up pistol brass...I cannot shoot them as well. Also I will still pick up 223 brass, as I really not concerned with the group. But when I work up a load for a 223, I have 50 cases that are all the "same". 223 is also the only rifle case that I full size every time as I have more than one rifle in that caliber.

I do for my pistols when I need brass.  When I first got my P220 ST, (45ACP), I had 300rds.  After three or so trips to the range, I wanted more to reload, so I collected over 500 cases, and currently, I have at least 1000 casings.  And I only reload however many I want to shoot when I go, so that saves me time and money.  Secondly, I really won't have to fish around for brass for a looooong time... I load light, so my casings will last a good long time in my books. :wink:   As for rifles, I shoot for accuracy...So I would only get brass that I can definitely confirm has either been fired once or never.  But I'll more likely buy my own brass for my rifles, as I would like to know they will be somewhat more consistent, I don't like just picking up ANY cases.  BTW, for you reloaders out there, watch out for those Berdan primer cases...I broke a de-prime pin once that way! :evil:  :evil:   Patriot

pisol brass i take an use, rifle brass i will take but use it for wild cats if i neaded them i love when i see guys shooting 444 i take them an tos them in a bucket one of these days when i get a 375 ill have lots of rounds to fire form, if its regular stuff like 30-30 06 i usualy just toss in the junk cans in the basement an if i want to try some thing new or just nead some cheap rounds to take to the range to let off some steam ill use that

Yes, used to sell it on ebay but now it's not worth my time. The site is flooded with range brass for sale.

Sometimes..........if I'm sitting right next to a guy who plops downs, opens a brand new box of something I can use the brass for....esspecially in a varmint caliber, fires of his 20 and leaves. Yep I do. On the other hand random range brass of unknown origin...nope

If I find some centerfire brass, I take it home and box it up for later recycling.  

I keep 45ACP and 37 special brass for my own use because it's a low-pressure round and because mixed brass is just as accurate as brass by a specific manufacturer.

I don't keep brass of any other kind for my own use. I like to know where my brass has been.

I pick up range brass, especially belted magnum brass & C.F. rifle brass. I sell it to the junkman. It helps pay for my shooting. $5 here and there adds up when I need to buy supplies. It's free money.

There is a rule ,actually 2 at my club. You are responsible to clean up your brass and targets. No one is allowed to make a personal profit from the club. We had a guy that "mined" the berms and cast bullets that he sold to the public. He was warned about damaging the berms,Eventually the club suspended his membership for selling the lead he mined from the berms.  He also sold the scrap brass that was tossed in a safety barrel.
  Some cases were still LIVE,but the primers had been hit.

When the origin is known, yes but only for my 308.

I only shoot LC 308 Match range brass and have enough for my lifetime.

You're pretty lucky if you find belted brass in your caliber often.  The range I go to, after about 5 yrs. or so I have only seen and recovered TWO belted cases: One in 7mm Rem. Mag, and the other in 338 Win. Mag.  I don't even count on seeing any 300 Wby brass lying around though... The time I would spend lookin' for belted cases for myself would be worth less than sitting outside and trying to discover a new asteroid. :D   Patriot

Strange because other than the standard NATO rounds belted mag brass is pretty common at the local range here. Especially this time of year.

One time I found some 300 Win Mag that had been fired in a 300 WBY. You're right, It was kind'a funny looking.
