Went out this AM, and we saw 6! coyotes!  Managed to drill one at about 100 yards with my Tikka 22-250.  Should have had two more, but they were running at 250-300 yards.

All in all, a great morning.

If I know how to post pictures, I'd put one in.

Tom

Dang Tom! That sure is a grey 'yote! Kinda Square too! :-D

What were you using for a call? The coyotes here are mixing things up with the warm winter and the rut coming on. I haven't found the right fly to tie on just yet. They aren't coming to rabbits or squeakers and my howling apparently needs work (unless you're a nearby Labrador...)

Yup, but it makes it easier to hit them.  Aim at the "T"... :)

Anyway, we've been  blowing with a "help, I'm a hurt bunny, come eat me"  call, but haven't had much luck.  THe weather here sucks, no snow and warm, but lots of deer and elk are wintering nearby, so there are some doggies running around trying to eat on the herds.  This one was a drive by.....

Whereabouts in Montana are you?  I grew up in Helena, and my Dad still lives there.........

Hi Tom

I'm south of Eternally-Groovy Missoula, a little ways up the Bitterroot (up is south here since the river flows north...). I'm supposed to be in Helena today, in fact to rant about wolf legislation. Pretty area.

Same weather too. We had a foot of snow last week but 45 degrees since. Things are ALLLL wrapped around the axle. I can't figure it out and was hoping you could gimme a hint :?  Maybe I'll dig out my cow call from last November. Or maybe the dog's squeeky toy ...

Cheers!
