any problem with stuck cases in .223?

hey, new to the forum. i'm thinking about getting an NEF in .223, but it seems that i've read some posts regarding stuck cases with rimless cartridges. does simply giving the rifle a good cleaning get rid of the occasional struck case or is there more to it. also, i neck size most all of  my brass. with the nef would it be better to full length resize?

I can say that I haven't had any F.T.E. I have used wolf,umc,winchester,pmc. All were 45 to 55gr hopes this helps. I did give it a real good cleaning. I have the bullbarrel 223.

Welcome to GBO! Yup, there are lots of reports of failure to extract, but there's an easy cure....just polish the chamber real well and make sure it is clean and dry, no oil, when you shoot it. Those that have done this to them, for the most part, have solved the problem. Some isolated cases had stronger extractor springs installed, IIRC. I was at the range Wednesday shootin' my .17hmrs and another shooter was having extraction problems with his Handi .223, so it is common but easily fixed. A couple methods of polishing are coating empty brass with metal polish and using a drill to spin the brass, or as I did, using a ..35 cal bore mop chucked in a drill and using flitz metal polish. Did all the above to my 223 Ultra before firing a shot in it and have yet to have a stuck case even with some slightly over hot handloads.

I did have have a couple of stuck cases using Wolf 55gr. HP out of my Ultra but, it already had over 100rnds. since the last cleaning.

Just ordered 240rnds. more of Wolf 55gr. HP. I like this stuff and the point of impact does not change from Wolf to the Win. 45gr. HP Value Pack.

I dont have a .223 (yet) but do have a handi in 30-06.....it has never failed to eject a loaded or spent round, i have probably put around 150-200 rounds through it.
Like these guys said, keeping the chamber really clean and dry is the key.

BTW....I know they are different beasts but i also have three shotgun barrels that eject fine
and a sportster .22lr that has never failed.

I also read a lot about this before I got my 223 barrel. Before I used it I cleaned the chamber very thoroughly and used Break-free Powder blast to clean the gunk out of the ejector. Have not had a problem yet.

I should have added something else. I was having problems with stuck cases and the action opening on my 270 with hot loads. I used the same procedure on it and have not had a problem since.

I never had a stuck case with my 223 until I stared reloading then may be one out of 20 I fegger some how it is my fault just got to find out what I am doing wrong.

One of my H&R started sticking, Took extractor gompletely a part,
there was a bunch greese dirt and other nonsense in it. The extractor would barely come out. After a good cleaning with carb cleaner, works fine now.  Marv.

On the one rifle I had hands on experience with, the extractor would throw an unfired round about 6-8 feet over the shoulder and behind the shooter but still wouldn't extract a just fired case. Seems to me to be more than just the extractor itself from this experience and others that I have read, although I bet the good extractor cleaning helped, probably throws that case 10 ft now!
