Second group from Ultra varmint .223
« on: June 28, 2004, 07:58:46 AM »
Hey guys I got the opportunity to shoot the ultra varmint again sunday. I set out the box at 50 yds and fired three slow carefully aimed shots. The first two were almost toughing the third was again 3/4" inch below. I think I have established a clean barrel fouled barrel pattern here.

I once again made a scope adjustment and Im ready to head to the 100 yd range. Im hoping the clean barrel fouled barrel pattern remains the same.

I will let you guys know how my barrel break in process and sighting in procedes.

before you shoot for a group you should fire one fouling shot into the bank.doing this will clear any oil out of your barrel and then you can see how it groups

before you start "counting" on the groups you are getting.

However, they should only get better over time

Actually I want to know where it shoots on a clean barrel too. That is why Im keeping track of where it shots clean and on a fouled barrel. Im in the process of seasoning the barrel and adjusting the scope simultanously.  But I think I have a pattern going on the clean barrel and fouled barrel with just two very brief shooting sessions under my belt. I will let  you guys know how further testing goes.
