Optics Quality
« on: July 01, 2004, 04:04:50 AM »
A year ago I thought my 5yr. old Vari-X 3 was very clear.  After buying a Weaver Grand Slam the older Vari-X 3 looks average.  This also goes for most of the new optics I looked at.  Is it me or have most of them really stepped up the Quality?  I also really like the new quick adjust on the back lens for focus, still don't need to wear glasses in the stand.  My take is their are a lot of much improved optics out their!!  Buckfever

I believe optics have improved, but that is certainly secondary for me. If we are talking about binoculars which you look through all day long optics are important. Just about any of today's scopes, less some cheapo 'Mart brands, are bright enough for any US hunting.

What is important is the "ruggedness" for a lack of better terms. So many people seem more interested that scope A seems slightly more clear than scope B.

They are just a place to store crosshairs. I want to be damn sure when I pull the trigger that the bullet is going where I look.
