how long can you leave a springer cocked...???

always heard and read not to leave a springer cocked for an extended period.....how long is long......10 mins???20 mins......i hunt with an rws and find myself sending pellets into the ground and then recocking...thanks mack

No problem leaving one cocked for an hour or so.  Actually it is okay for longer periods but I try to limit it to an hour.  

What RWS to you have?  One trick is to just break the barrel and insert a pellet so all you have to do is cock...

It's OK to go load a pellet, cock it, put on the safety, and go hunting. Just discharge it at the end of the day.  It's not like some of the pump pneumatics that lose pressure while you carry it.

I have a gamo and leave it cocked and ready all the time.Iv been doing this for 3-4 yrs. and never had a problum,and i shoot it a lot.Sometimes i dont youse it for 2-3 wks and it still fires fine.I didnt know that its not good for the gun.pan.
