When you have a rifle scope on a contender, you use a taco hold. The weak hand holds onto the front portion of the gun. Some hold the front of the barrel, some hold the bell of the scope, and some hold the scope and the barrel at the same time. The strong hand holds the pistol grip or stock and pulls the triger.
This is the clasic hold that Silhouette shooters use and can be used with all light recoil calibers. I have used the taco hold on everything from 22 rimfire up to and including 357 mag with a 10 inch barrel. If the recoil is too strong you can tell cause the scope comes back and cuts a nice cresent moon into your forhead.
