mr.frosty-I doubt they will.They were coming out with the .480 Ruger and .475 Linebaugh but they have to proof them and the .475 Linebaugh is at 55,000 PSI in Hodgdons manuals.That means to proof it the 1895 action has to take some big time abuse and work way up past the 55,000 PSI to be a SAAMI cartridge.The New .454 Ruger was proofed at 93,000 PSI for a 65,000 PSI SAAMI...

Plus those pistol cartridges use hot powder like H-110....I doubt it will happen with SAAMI blessings..Last I herd the two pistol calibers are are on hold........

what is the saami rating on the s&w 500? it's not as high as the 475  or is it?

The best thing Marlin could do would be to legitimise the .50 Alaskan....made much more sense to me at least than the .450 Marlin simply for the reason we already have the 45/70....the .50 AK would have IMHO been a natural progression  8)

I would vote for the Marlin in a 50 Alaskan with a 26 inch barrel.
I already have a Wild West Guns 50 Alaskan with a 20 inch ported barrel.
It will shoot 300 gr. to 580 gr. bullets.
But Marlin will probley never make us one.Same with Ruger will probley never make a 5 shot 500 Linb.
Just my 2 cents.

Wild West Guns is making their own rifle with a receiver that's sized between the Marlin 94 and Marlin 95.  It's chambered in 500 S&W, and barrels are either 16.5" or 18.5".  Factory ammo is easier to come by than the 50 Alaskan, but it really isn't in the same class.  It's still one heck of a lever gun, though.

I've seen it mentioned elsewhere that Marlin has pulled the plug on the 1895RL in .475/.480 :rain:

Can anybody confirm this?
