ORIGINAL WWII COLT M1911
« on: July 02, 2004, 07:10:14 PM »
I am wanting to purchase an original Colt M1911 that was issued sometime in the WWII years.  Could anyone help me on the serial# range of these guns?  Also, does anyone know of a place that has a good selection of these?

Thanks

Chad

1940-mid 42 serial numbers are  717282-800000
late 42 to 43 are  #800501 to958100
1944 #s are 1609529 to 1743846

These are the Colt numbers only, you could find govt. remarks also by colt

Check out "collectors firearms", they have a web site and usually have what you are looking for---they are proud, but, if you are looking for a particular piece this is a good source for a find.
