With anything as popular as the 1911 there is likely to be some slang that is related to it. What 1911 slang can you share?

Questor:  how about 'hammer-bite'.  Sort of self-explanatory.  Don't really know if it is slang or not but, as I'm certain you know, it is that phenomena which leaves the web of your shooting hand a bloody mess after a box or two of ammo.  Dang!  Mikey.

Nickname for 1911 (from 1930's crime novels) = Roscoe

Also, "the yankee fist"

I had never given it much thought,but I don't think there ever was a slang name for that weapon,it was so well known/famous that when anyone mentioned a .45 the imediute  mental picture was of a 1911(at least after the early 1900's)!

I like to think of mine as a safety device, incorporating manual thumb safety, disconnector, and grip safety. It incidentally shoots bullets.
