Author Topic: Contender 45/410 barrel Question (Read 630 times)

I know when I shoot 45LC from the 45/410 barrel, the choke has to be removed. Now if I shoot a 410 slug, do I need to remove the choke tube or do I leave it in? Or is it not recommended to shoot 410 slugs? Thanks in advance.

The choke tube is there to stop the rotation of the shot wad to improve patterns. Remove it to shoot any solid projectile.

Thanks, I just want to see how the 410 slugs shoot. I have 2 boxes of 5 each slugs left from a different gun.

Well I shot the 45/410 barrel today. I shot some shot shells just to see how it handled. It was fun. I then removed the choke and shot five 410 slugs at 25 yards and all five shots stayed in a 4 inch circle on the target. Now the 45L/C's shot tighter groups at 25 yards compared to the 410 slugs. At 15 yards I put 5 shots in the bulls eye, about a 1 1/2 inch bullseye. I was impressed with the 45/410 barrel. :-D

does your barrel have sights or a beed?
I have one that has sights and it shoots 45 colt loads well enough for hunting

It has the sights. I was shooting at an indoor range and the sights were hard to make out. Lighting is not that good. I would consider using it for deer hunting. At 25 yards with the 45 LC, I kept under a 3 inch group with the poor lighting.

the best thing about the 45/410 with sights is that
it is very easy to scope it and would work great with a dot scope.
you would be able to use it with both shotshell and 45 colt.

Delaware is trying to pass handgun hunting. As of now we do not have it. But what they are working on right now, will not allow red dots sights or scopes. Only open sights. :x But at least we will get our foot in the door for handgun hunting. :grin:
