Heading to Destin today.
« on: May 21, 2004, 01:58:32 AM »
:D  Well I'm leaving today for Destin, Fla. for a deep sea fishing trip. Hope it isn't too rough out there, the captain said that it's been a little rough the last few days but that he's hoping that it'll smooth off by Saturday. I'll let you know how we did when I get back.

:D Had a great trip, weather was great, water was clear and real calm (maybe too calm) we limited out on amberjacks (largest was about 50 lbs)  we were 2 below our limit on red snapper (the captain only wanted to keep fish that were 20 inches or larger-so we threw back more than we kept- I call it exercise fishing) we got 4 scamp and 3 grouper (largest was about 40lbs) got a few trigger fish which is rare that far out (about 73 miles) and we caught a few mingo or bliner snapper that went 20 inches (which is huge) and they were so fat that they looked like footballs. The water was so clear that you could see your bait at 60 ft and I saw one amberjack take my bait and several were seen swimming by at about 50 ft. We put over 600 lbs of fish on board and had a great trip.

I've been going down there 1 or 2 times a year for the past 20 years to go fishing. When I first went down there it was a small fishing village, now its getting to be as bad as Panama city,  wall to wall people.
