been using one shot case lube for sizing .500 linebaugh for a few years. Ran out and all i could find is lyman. That crap is junk. I load on a 550 and lube cases and size and prime then tumble then go back and charge cases seat and crimp. I broke my shell plate with a stuck case. Got i out relubed the cases (lots of lube) and stuck two more only have one good station on the shell plate left till dillion sends a replacement (free from a good company!) Guess ill use the rest to lube hinges! if it will even work on that! By the way i found a can of one shot today and lubed the cases with it and they sized slick as snot!

I recently got some spray on lube from Dillion which, I read somewhere, is lanolin and alcohol. It seems to work great so far.

I wouldn't use spray-on case lube to lube anything but cases since some of them are designed to become less greasy after a short time.

I've been using One Shot for about two years now and I like it a lot. The only problem I have is when sizing 45-70 cases, I have to really lay it on heavy. If I'm sizing enough cases (>100) I have to lube them in batches of 50. Otherwize the lube dries enough so that they start sizing really hard.

I used the One Shot for a long time and recently switched to Imperial Sizing Wax. Like it better so far.

I will take the risk of ruffling some feathers, but in my opinion all the reloading stuff I have ever tried that started with a "L" is not the best. My last "L" purchase was the new powder pan with the little funnel on it. It is a really neat idea. It would be even better if they would use a plastic that was less static prone like the other manufactures so the last few grains of powder would not stick in it. Just another great idea that is so close, but not quite there.

After 18yrs I am still using my Lyman T mag press, Powder measure, & even the powder scale.

I got rid of the Lyman die's fairly quick (first month) and switched to RCBS Die's, shellholders, & case trimmer.
Do all priming on a Lee autoprime.

Bullseye,
Try wiping the pan with a slightly used dryer sheet and see if that helps the static. I've also lightly coated them with graphite then wiped out the excess and that seems to help too.
Back on the subject the only Lyman stuff I have is a case trimmer and some M-dies. They work fine but I'm not that impressed with their machine work. Could have done as well in high school shop class.

I thought the 500 Linebaugh was a straight-wall case. Is the sizing die a carbide die?

I have been using Imperial wax and I like it. I also use RCBS water soluble lube because I can resize the cases then wash the lube off.

the .500 has such a big bore that theres no room for a carbide insert so your stuck with steel.

Lloyd, make your own CL:1 cup 99% isopropel alcohol (ordered form a local drug store) 1 & 1/4 tablespoons melted anhydrous lanolin

Put that mixture in a small trigger spray bottle or just put a dab on your fingers to lube cases. Total cost per cup is about .50 cents and will last a long time.
